‘Udders Orchard started out  underneath an apple tree in Paddock.  In rather Newton-esque fashion, I had an idea!  But where Newton only thought of gravy I thought of cider.  With no substantial orchards in the immediate vicinity apples could be a problem.  Now I know that isn’t a problem for some “cider producers”, they add sugary water to bulk up their produce,  But how  many apple trees grow untapped in Huddersfield?  How many people don’t like the mess that apples leave their lawn in?

Last year ‘Udders Orchard collected apples from Lepton, Lockwood, Paddock, as well as Wetherby and Lincolnshire to make 13 gallons of home brewed cider

And  it was good!

Some was available at the Rat & Ratchet Mild and Cider Festival in May 2009.

This year, with a home made press and a bourbon cask from North America I aim to produce more and make it  more widely available.
